Dr. Randall S. Peterson is Professor of Organisational Behaviour and Founding Director of the London Business School Leadership Institute at London Business School. He is well known to many of our members as a guiding light and valuable resource, having hosted two previous sessions.
Boards should provide the right balance of support, challenge and oversight.
In this session we will talk about Randall's latest research project looking at the common attributes of dysfunctional boards and why board scandals happen:
Lack of independence from management, missing key voices, cultural amplification, diffusion of responsibility, rule-bound cultures and group-think are just a few examples of how things can go wrong.
Randall will share case studies from his book and INSIGHTS from conversations with various fellow members.
We won't just focus on the problems, but will also take a look at ways to strengthen boards, improve their culture and competence, and how to give directors and others the power to take action and ultimately prevent disasters from happening.
