Wim Vos, CEO Radiomics and COO Steven Lauwers will share how they try to differentiate themselves in the search for talent. They will dive into the elements that they believe makes their HR approach unique:
HR at the Heart: HR has been at the heart of operations: from the early days of the company, we invested in a good HR team to lead and shape our approach. Within the HR team, the colleagues are equals & expert in their field, without a hierarchy. Every so often, we stop & reflect on our approach and are not afraid of throwing things around completely.
Our recruitment: We focus on potential, not on experience. Our recruitment process is highly competitive, and we prefer to stop the recruitment rather than taking "anyone" available. Every single applicant has to take a week-long challenge, and will meet direct colleagues, supervisors and the CEO in the process.
Our training: We provide all the means for the development of someone’s potential. We have a tough onboarding that assures a common basis for everyone, and follow up our new colleagues very closely in the first months. We have a transparent growth path for each employee, with clear expectations but also clear opportunities (e.g. for training).
Our culture: We have extreme candor in everything: we speak our mind, and expect everyone to do so (regardless of the level). We allow for internal movement, so people look for internal rather than external opportunities. We are extremely flexible in ‘how’ people work, but set the bar high in terms of ‘what’ they do and are clear about our expectations.
In short, we believe we “win the war on talent” by focussing on the potential and not the track record of people. We give an opportunity to excel, and know we have an obligation to help our colleagues to do so: we are a "compagnon de route" in the development of their talents, their career path and their personal growth. We make the company a safe & fun place to be. And all of this allows us to set our bar very high in terms of expectations.
