INSIGHTS/The CEO: Philipp Baaske (NanoTemper) - From Scientist to Storyteller-in-Chief

NanoTemper was founded in 2008. It develops and produces best-in-class biophysical tools. They employ 242 people from more than 31 cultures. Since founding the company, Philipp has won an many important awards and prizes, including the German Innovation Prize, the German Founders Award, TOP100 "Innovator of the Year” and Top 40 under 40: Awarded by the magazine "Capital", to name but a few.

NanoTemper is considered one of Germany’s most innovative companies.

When Phillip wants to get a message across, he regularly uses "stories". Both for internal communicating with staff, but also externally, when talking to clients and investors. Philipp has nearly 9,000 connections on LinkedIn. His posts are widely shared and consistently commented upon.

Here are a few of the things that Philipp will share with you:

  • What prompted him to use stories as a tool and how it had an impact on his profile as the CEO and on his venture.

  • What kind of stories resonate and how in his experience.

  • How he is using “personal stories” to connect and how he gauges what and how much to reveal of himself.

  • What it means on a day-to-day basis in terms of workload, and how he goes about planning and creating individual stories (bearing in mind that he does not have a communication team).

In short - why does it pay for founders to communicate with stories?
