Let's be clear, China is a big and therefore important market with tremendous potential. BUT.... for a European venture, setting up or partnering in China can be school of hard knocks. It is an ever-changing and dynamic environment, challenging on many levels.
Daniel and Lui have successfully set up a number of medical device companies in China over the past 13 years. Some in partnership, others on their own.
In this session Daniel and Lui will share their experience in how to navigate the Chinese market from policies, politics to practicalities - what has worked and what to avoid.
Daniel Mahnert-Lueg - Managing Director DML Capital Ltd.
Before recently moving back to Germany (Berlin), I lived and worked in China for 13 years. Building several cross-border business. After an MBA at CEIBS in Shanghai, I set-up a start-up to import German Infant Milk Formula to China. Then I worked for Pfizer Nutrition (now Nestle) and launched a new product line in their Infant Milk Formula division being the only westerner in the company.
Originally coming from the Private Equity field and with my operational experience, I then set up a Private Equity company to buy out med-tech companies in Germany and expand them to China. My partner there Lui Kam and I set up all the operations for the two portfolio companies in China. Furthermore, I also made several other cross-border healthcare investments related to China.
Before moving to China I studied (Stern Business School) and worked in New York City for 10 years where I worked in the field of consulting and investments.
