Alan is CEO of Abcam, where he has led the organisation since 2014 through a doubling of scale that has created more than £2.5 billion in value for shareholders.  

Abcam is know in- and outside the industry for having a culture in which employees can grow and thrive and develop their careers. In the 14 years before joining Abcam, Alan was a partner at the consultancy Bain & Company advising business leaders seeking to sustain profitable growth.  He also pursued his interest in scaling organisations with social enterprises in the UK having worked with venture philanthropy funds and their beneficiaries to scale up social impact.  Prior to arriving in the UK in 1999, he worked in several companies in the USA and completed BS, MS, and MBA degrees at Cornell University.
